Xiaomi started providing NE versions of its flagship products
last year, starting with the 11 Lite 5G. Later, a newer 11 Lite 5G NE model was
produced with essentially same features but a different chipset. Another one
might debut this year; it's anticipated to be a device solely available in
China under the name of Xiaomi Civi 2, which has been renamed.
The Chinese tech blog IT Home claims that the Xiaomi 12 Lite
5G NE will soon be available for purchase. The device's model number,
2210129SG, was discovered in the IMEI database. The "G" at the end of
the code denotes that it will be a global release rather than a Chinese model.
If you are aware that the Xiaomi Civi 2 is already available
in China and is soon to be released internationally, then this makes perfect
sense.
This device should not be confused with the current Xiaomi 12
Lite. There will be a different set of features on the Civi 2/12 Lite 5G NE. It
is anticipated to include the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, which is a direct replacement
for the well-liked Snapdragon 778G used in phones from the previous generation,
notably the 11 Lite 5G NE.
With the exception of the macro camera, it will have a 50MP
main camera, a 20MP ultrawide unit, and an 8MP camera. These specifications are
largely identical to those of the Civi 2.
It is anticipated to feature the same 4,500 mAh battery and
67W rapid charging capability. This can fully charge the battery in under 40
minutes.
It is important to note that the FCC has already approved
model number 2210129SG, indicating that the launch is about to occur. According
to the FCC listing, the 12 Lite 5G NE would come in 128 GB and 256 GB storage
and 6 to 8 GB RAM configurations.
Since no launch announcements have been made thus far, we
anticipate seeing it in November instead of October.
