The premium Phantom smartphone
line from Tecno is back with updated camera technology and a more potent CPU.
The two new phones, Phantom X2 and X2 Pro, only have one with the first
extendable portrait camera ever made.
These phones are essentially the same, although they have different photography capabilities.
Display Configuration
By utilizing an AMOLED panel with
a 120Hz operating frequency, the X2 series improves the first Phantom range (up
from 90Hz). The screen has a diagonal measurement of 6.8 inches with a 1080p
resolution. Both phones include curved screens, extremely slim bezels, and
Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The fingerprint reader is positioned
underneath the screen.
The phone's back includes an
odd-looking camera setup with three little sensors next to two large lenses,
giving it a polarising effect.
Storage and Processor
The flagship-level Dimensity 9000
processor from MediaTek powers the two smartphones. The 4nm chip from TSMC's
foundry uses the newest technology, which is leagues ahead of the Helio G95
that was utilized in the original Phantom X (Cortex-X2 primary CPU core, three
A710, and a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU). The X2 phones have 256GB UFS 3.1 storage and
LPDDR5X RAM (8GB for the vanilla model and 12GB for the Pro).
Unfortunately, both phones can
only run Android 12 out of the box.
Camera Department
The two phones' primary camera
configurations significantly differ from one another. The Phantom X2 Pro is the
only product featuring a retractable portrait lens, as was already mentioned.
The mechanism that keeps the phone slim by extending the lens forward until
necessary and retracting it when you're done makes it amenable to all kinds of
obscene jokes in addition to being a novelty.
On top of it, there is a 50MP
primary sensor with a large aperture that lets in a lot of light. A natural
bokeh should be possible due to the short depth of field, which is perfect for
portrait photography. Although it features a second 50MP sensor, it is a
telephoto one with a 2.5x optical zoom.
There is also a 13MP ultrawide sensor with a macro option. This is also used by the non-pro version. The non-pro version's camera system includes a 64MP main camera, the aforementioned ultrawide device, and a 2MP depth sensor. A 32MP selfie camera is shared by both devices.
Tecno Phantom X2 Series Battery and Prices
Each phone has a large 5,160 mAh
battery. This battery charges faster—at 45W—than the Phantom X's 4,700mAh
battery, which charged at 33W.
The Phantom X2 Pro is available
in Stardust Grey, Mars Orange, and an Eco-Friendly model with a recycled
plastic back cover. Additionally available colors for the regular X2 are
Stardust Grey and Moonlight Silver. Pricing details will be made public when the
two phones go on sale in a few weeks.
