This week, Xiaomi had an official launch in China where it
showcased a variety of new devices, including the Xiaomi Book Air 13, a new
competitor to the MacBook Air. The most recent Intel processors and a rare OLED
screen are included for the best possible performance and efficiency.
The laptop's 13.3-inch screen, features an OLED panel with a
2880 x 1800 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, and additional protection from
Gorilla Glass 3, exactly what the name suggests. The laptop's touchscreen
capabilities and 360-degree screen-flipping hinge make it simple to convert
into a tablet.
The display is approved for HDR 500 and supports Dolby Vision. Additionally, it features DC dimming and fully conforms to the DCI-P3 colour scheme. Dolby Atmos is paired with the device's two tweeter speakers. The entire unit is barely 12mm thick and weighs 1.2kg, giving it a strong ergonomic rival to the MacBook Air.
The laptop is available in two different versions, one with
an i5-1230U and the other with a Core i7-1250U CPU. Both models include a 512GB
PCIe 4.0 SSD and 16GB of LPDDR5 5200MHz memory as standard. With no demanding
system requirements, this should enable the laptop to perform a few low-end
games.
Onboard, there's a 58.3Wh battery with 65W wired charging
capabilities, which is probably PD compatible. Only two Thunderbolt 4
connections and a 3.5mm audio jack are provided in terms of ports.
It is not yet known what the price will be or if the laptop
will indeed be sold outside of China. Unlike the MacBook Air, which offers a
number of paint jobs to pick from, it will only be offered in one white colour
option.
