A temporary selection committee
has reportedly been named by the newly established management committee, which
is led by Najam Sethi.
The selection committee will be
headed by Afridi, and members will also include Rao Iftikhar Anjum and Abdul
Razzaq. Haroon Rashid has assumed the convener's position in the meantime.
Shahid Afridi had already praised
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, for selecting him to serve on the PCB
executive committee.
The former well-known player
expressed his eagerness to help Pakistan cricket at the grassroots level but
acknowledged that his long-term place in the current system was unclear.
The Pakistan Cricket Board makes
significant changes just days after Shehbaz Sharif appointed Najam Sethi to
chair a committee charged with overseeing PCB operations for the following
three months.
