Yesterday, Honor began a two-day
launch celebration in China. Whereas its phone launches got postponed until the
second day, we witnessed the introduction of Magic OS 7.0 during the first day.
With prices starting at $335, the Honor 80, 80 Pro, & 80 SE now are
officially available in China.
Only the Honor 80 & 80 Pro
will be covered in this post. We'll explore the Honor 80 SE as well as a fresh
set of Honor earbuds in a different article.
Display Configuration
The highlight of the event is the
Honor 80 Pro, which has a 6.78-inch curved OLED screen with 1080p resolution
with 120Hz refresh rate. It is the only device in the lineup featuring a dual
camera sensor that is similar to Dynamic Island on the newest iPhone models.
The basic Honor 80 has nearly the
same display specifications, but it features a 6.67-inch screen that is
significantly smaller and just has one punch-hole selfie camera. Both phones
feature 1 billion colours, 1000 nits of maximum brightness, and HDR10+.
Processor and Storage
Rather than the Snapdragon 778G+
SoC, the Honor 80 now makes use of the recently released Snapdragon 782G
processor. Even though the Honor 80 Pro's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor is a
little underclocked version, it still qualifies as a flagship. On both phones,
you can choose between 256 GB and 512 GB of storage and 8 to 12 GB of RAM.
The Honor 80 Pro and Honor 80 run
Magic OS 7.0, an Android 12 based operating system.
Camera Department
Both the Honor 80 Pro & Honor
80 use the same 160MP primary camera. This 1/1.56-inch sensor's 2.24 m pixels
and f/1.8 aperture allow for 16-in-1 binning. The Honor picture engine now has
better AI RAW algorithms & scene processing capabilities.
The ultrawide camera in the Honor
80 is only able of 8MP, while the ultrawide camera on the Honor 80 Pro can
reach 50MP. Both devices also have a 2MP depth camera.
A 32-megapixel selfie camera is
housed in the Honor 80's punch-hole cutout.
Two front-facing cameras are
present on the Honor 80 Pro: a 50MP main camera as well as a 2MP depth camera.
Honor 80 and 80 Pro Battery, Fast Charging and Pricing
The 4,800 mAh batteries in both
phones support 66W wired charging plus 5W reverse charging.
The Honor 80 Pro is offered in
two different configurations, with prices ranging from $490 and for 8 GB/256 GB
model to $573 for the 12 GB/512 GB model.
The Honor 80 starts at $377 is
for 8/256 GB trim, and costs $460 for the 12/512 GB variant.
