India's trip to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup will, of course, depend on whether the government of the time gives its approval, but as of right now, it is unquestionably on the Board of Control for Cricket in India's agenda (BCCI). Prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 18, the BCCI distributed a memorandum to the state associations outlining India's participation in the following multilateral events:
Significant ICC/multi-nation events in 2023
The
following ICC competitions will feature the Indian team in 2023: the ICC
Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa; the ICC Women's U-19 T20 World Cup in
South Africa; the Asia Cup in Pakistan; and the ICC Cricket World Cup in India.
In the second part of 2023, Pakistan is slated to host the 50-over Asia Cup, with India hosting the World Cup immediately after. And based on the AGM statement, the BCCI appears willing to visit Pakistan, which has been off limits since 2008 when India participated in an Asia Cup.
BCCI
representatives declined to comment when reached, but it is noteworthy
considering The Asian Cricket Council's president is Jay Shah, the BCCI
secretary (ACC). It will be subject to the Government of India's approval as
always, according to a BCCI official who reaffirmed the organization's commonly
expressed position. There is always the potential to conduct the competition in
the UAE, just like with this year's Asia Cup, but the BCCI note seems to imply
otherwise.
