Soon after introducing the
Snapdragon 888-powered, gaming-ready X40 GT, Honor is returning its focus to
budget models. In China, the Honor Play 40 Plus has recently gone on sale for a
starting price of $165. In the foreign market, the price will probably
increase.
Display Configuration
Here, the design of the low-cost
phone is fairly obvious. It has a plastic body, a thick bottom bezel, and a
U-shaped notch for the selfie camera. The display is a 6.74-inch TFT LCD, a
lower class of LCD panels that performs less favourably in terms of colours and
clarity than IPS panels. It boasts a 90Hz refresh rate and a 720p resolution.
The side of the device houses the fingerprint reader.
Storage and Processor
The Play 40 Plus is equipped with
a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, which has 6 to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB
of storage despite being in the cheap class. One of the very few entry-level
phones with up to 8 GB/256 GB of memory is this one. However, there is no SD
card slot.
It starts with Android 12 OS and then switches to Magic UI 6.1.
Camera Department
A 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth camera for portrait pictures are the only two cameras on the back. The Dimensity 700 is capable of more, but this arrangement can record 1080p video at 30 frames per second.
The 5MP selfie camera, which is placed in the notch, is capable of recording 1080p movies.
Battery and Fast Charging
Another noteworthy aspect of the
phone is its enormous 6,000 mAh battery, which also supports 22.5W cable
charging.
