Breaking Virat Kohli's record, Babar Azam becomes the first
Asian player to reach 11,000 runs in international cricket the quickest.
On Thursday, Babar Azam broke a previous record by becoming
the first Asian player to reach 11,000 runs in international cricket. The
27-year-old broke Virat Kohli's record by reaching the milestone in his 251st
innings.
It took the former captain of India 261 innings to reach the milestone. Sunil Gavaskar attained the milestone in 262 innings, and Javed Miandad did the same in 266. Azam helped his team defeat Bangladesh by seven wickets in the sixth game of the current Tri-series in New Zealand with a total of 55 runs off of 40 balls.
Babar has now scored 11002 runs in total, 3122 of which came
in 75 innings in 42 Test matches. Babar has accumulated 4664 runs from 90
innings in 92 ODIs and 3216 runs from 86 innings in 91 T20Is.
