Apple introduces the larger, newer 10th-generation iPad.

Apple recently upgraded its tablet collection with the most recent iPads shortly after releasing the iPhone. Along with its new iPad Pro counterparts, the new 10th generation iPad is the first to finally replace the venerable Lightning port with a USB-C connector.

The new iPad features a little larger screen than the previous model, measuring 10.8 inches, but it retains an IPS LCD panel with 2360 x 1640 pixels and 500 nits of maximum brightness. It is basically an iPad Air 2022 sans the M1 chip and is slimmer than previously with flat sides.

It replaces the M1 with the A14 SoC, which has a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine.

Similar to last year, there will be two storage arrays to select from 64 GB and 256 GB. You will require a USB-C to Lightning converter, which is happily provided in the box because it allows Apple Pencil but is coupled with a Lightning Port.

The 12MP selfie camera on the tablet is set up to take landscape photos, increasing the number of people it can accommodate in the frame during video conversations. Additionally, it supports 1080 60 FPS video output. The primary camera has a 12MP sensor and a 4K video recording capability. The Magic Keyboard, which connects via the Smart Connector and fastens magnetically, is also compatible with the 10th-generation iPad.

In order to convert the slate into a laptop, it also comes with a trackpad and a kickstand. Both a Wi-Fi only and a Wi-Fi + 5G configuration of the slate will be offered. At least the previous iPad is still available at a reasonable price; its starting price of $450 is a big hike over last year.

The new iPad is currently only available for pre-order; later this month, worldwide distribution will begin.
